Gōjū-ryū (剛柔流), Japanese for "hard-soft style", is one of the main traditional Okinawan styles of karate, featuring a combination of hard and soft techniques. Both principles, hard and soft, come from the famous martial arts book used by Okinawan masters during the 19th and 20th centuries, the Bubishi (Chinese: 武備志; pinyin: Wǔbèi Zhì).[1] Gō, which means hard, refers to closed hand techniques or straight linear attacks; jū, which means soft, refers to open hand techniques and circular movements. Gōjū-ryū incorporates both circular and linear movements into its curriculum, combining hard striking attacks such as kicks and close hand punches with softer open hand circular techniques for attacking, blocking, and controlling the opponent, including joint locks, grappling, takedowns, and throws.

The reason why you think you can’t do it is because you’re trying to run before you can walk.

Just like my baby girl here, she has to learn how to crawl before she can walk, before she can run. 
But when it comes to weight loss, people try to run before they can even crawl.

They think that diet and exercise is the formula to help them lose the weight.

While it is, you aren’t ready for that yet.

You have to master other skills before moving on to that.

I call this the pyramid to success.

The first thing you need to have is a STRONG reason “why” you want to do this. 
If your reason is I want to look good, I’m sorry that’s not enough and you are gonna fail.

Your “why” needs to motivate you and drive you like no other so that you don’t give up. It will pick you up when you’re down.

Next you need to build a habit or routine.

You ever start a New Years resolution to get in shape and go to the gym? 
How long did that last?  Exactly. It was never a habit or a routine so you stopped.

Without good habits or routine you cannot move from crawling to walking.

Next you need to fix your mindset. 
If you don’t have the right mindset approach then once something throws you off routine, you stop.

How many times have you done SO well during the week from Monday to Friday just to fall off on the weekend? 
Then once the weekend is over it’s SO hard to get back on track on Monday and it just spirals out of control from there? 
You can’t run until you learn to walk. 
Then once you’ve mastered those, that’s when diet and exercise becomes effective to help you lose weight.
