Over the past 10 years I’ve been asked a lot why I write, “For fun”.
.
It’s simple. If you’ve done CrossFit long enough you know that the competition side of the sport wears you down. The pressure, the anxiety of the clock, consistency with training to keep strength numbers up, constantly working on weaknesses, etc.
.
It caused me to actually not enjoy training.
.
Now I am an advocate of CrossFit and it’s methodologies.  Master technique. Check your ego. Scale appropriately. And go hard in the paint.
.
At this point in my life I have no interest in doing local competitions. I just want to enjoy my training.
.
Yes I test power output and push intensity sometimes but the majority of my workouts consist of long endurance based workouts.
.
Why?
.
Because I enjoy them and I find them fun for me.
.
To be honest, I’d much rather move at a moderate pace for a longer duration than do Fran.
.
Goals are constantly changing and my goals at this point in my life are to stay injury free, to enjoy my workouts, and to maintain some moderate strength. But most importantly, I want to maintain the aesthetics and body composition that keeps me happy.
.
Sometimes not timing a workout is really nice. Just to have steady movement for a solid 30-60 minutes.
.
I was doing “grunt work” before it was even a thing.
.

I get that it’s hard to find motivation sometimes. I really do! Sometimes days don’t go as planned or situations arise that get us down and the easiest thing to do is say “I’ll just do it tomorrow”.
.
Here’s the problem with that...What if the next day goes to crap or you’re feeling down? It’s beyond easy to quickly slip into a funk and eventually just put yourself on the back burner. Don’t get comfortable with that!

If you can fight through the hard times, keeping consistent and focused on your reasons for doing what you’re doing, I promise it’ll be worth it! When you see your hard work paying off in your progress, it’s definitely something to be proud of and happy about. Nobody has horseshoes up their butt all day or has the sun shining on them only...You make the best of the situation and carry on.I promised to always be open and honest, so here it goes. The left was me at my heaviest, 320 pounds, yup 3-2-0. The right was today weighing in at 222. The left was also taken in 2004, 15 years ago. I was an awkward, emo, yes I said emo, teenager who comforted herself with food because food loved her. It took a lot of self love to see the value in myself and to see that I was worth fighting for. I worked hard for my imperfect body, and do I love it? No, not always but do I love myself? Yes! And I will continue to work hard, almost, everyday because I’m worth it. And I say almost everyday because hey, margaritas 🤷🏽‍♀️ #transformationtuesday地震深蹲。

SLEEP is SO important but sadly often “forgotten” when it comes to improving all aspects of health and life. 😫

Insufficient sleep can lead to adverse health effects with impacts on our hormones. ☝🏼 Hunger levels tend to increase, driving you to eat MORE. 😩 You’re also not likely to make good food choices when in a sleep deprived state. 🤭

As for body composition, decreased sleep seems to have an impact on how much you lose as muscle vs fat. ✋🏼 One study found that during a calorie deficit, the group with decreased amount of sleep loss more fat-free mass vs fat. 😱
