For the man that wants to build some muscle, put some hair on his chest, lose fat and more importantly get healthy. I would suggest increasing that number to 1.0 per pound body weight.

There will come a time in your journey where that number can even be increased to 1.5g and higher numbers.

When most men start on a body transformation journey they may already be pretty low in daily protein to begin with. So they may think to go from, as an example, a lower number like 0.4g to a bigger number of 2.0g per pound body weight. Why not build up slower? Maybe start with. 0.8g? More of a gradual progression.

The bottom line is, try not to over think. Protein should be the foundation of your diet. The foundation of every meal. It will definitely keep you satiated for longer periods in your day.

SIMPLE OR REFINED CARBOHYDRATES
• As mentioned earlier, Whole grains have 3 layers i.e. Bran, Endosperm & Germ. • However, in case of Refined carbohydrates the outer layer bran & the inner layer germ are removed, leaving behind only the middle layer endosperm. • Due to this processing, the food is only left with the simple carbohydrate with little protein eliminating all the other essential nutrients - dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, etc. • Refined Carbohydrates are of 2 types: - Sugars: refined or processed (Sucrose-table sugar, high fructose corn syrup & agave syrup) - Refined grains: grains which has fiber & nutritious content removed (White flour, white bread, white rice, pastries, pasta, snacks, sodas, sweets, readymade breakfast cereals, etc.) • These are high glycemic index food which are digested quickly leading to spike in blood sugar levels & insulin in our body. • These foods give short term fullness because of empty calories which after an hour causes our blood sugar level go down leading to hunger which in turn gives cravings. •  Thus, refined carbohydrates increases the risk of several diseases like cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, digestive problems, inflammation & obesity. • Try to avoid all the refined products & switch to natural food sources.

Generally, when someone says that something is “the best” it means that it’s the best for them. It doesn’t mean that it’s the best for you. If your friend has been training for 10 years and you’re just starting out, his/her workout plan probably isn’t going to be ideal for you. Your goals, experience, schedule, injuries, diet, stress level, sleep quality etc will determine the best workout split/routine for you.

If you can commit to 4 days a week then and upper and lower day twice a week each is a great place to start 👍🏼

If you are just starting out then start SLOWLY. Try 2x a week at first and then (if you’ve been consistent) add another day each month. Do not start at 7 days/per week and miss half of them - you’ll lose motivation and the amount of discipline required for that level of effort will be too demanding and you’ll give up. You are not only training your muscles but also your ability to self discipline yourself 🧠 - Once you can master that then you will be in great shape for the rest of your life 😉

I was actually three weeks into my second attempt at the Keto Diet when lockdown hit. I did Keto back in the Summer of 2018 and managed to lose 30 lbs in a three month span. I had never felt better. But then between travelling a lot and the Christmas season, I fell off the bandwagon and slowly but surely the weight crept back up.⁣
⁣
I made a resolution for 2020 that I was going to try take another stab at Keto and try to get my health back on track. ⁣
⁣
And then the world went into lockdown.⁣
⁣
I tried for about two weeks to keep it going but I found I slowly kept sneaking in “cheat” snacks as my anxiety started soaring with so many uncertainties. I also found it increasingly hard to find the specific items I needed to cook and bake Keto-friendly foods.⁣
⁣
Along with that, the kids and I discovered a new love for baking which seemed like a really important survival and bonding activity for us to do during quarantine.⁣
⁣
Here’s the deal friends - IF you DO end up gaining weight, just remember that makes you one of the lucky ones. You likely didn’t have to worry about food supply. You didn’t have to worry about being able to afford food. ⁣
⁣
And IF you gain weight, it meant you were healthy enough to be home and eat and weren’t sick. ⁣
⁣
And IF you gain weight during this quarantine time, I can assure you that you still look freakin’ beautiful. Because it’s not the outside appearance that matters.⁣
⁣
There will be better, more certain days ahead where the gyms will open up again, where the economy will stabilize and where anxieties will subside. That can be the time where you focus on a health plan. ⁣
⁣
But for now, dear friend, don’t feel guilty about binge eating the Oreo’s or polishing off a bag of Doritos. If having another scoop of ice cream will help bring some peace and joy into your day, enjoy it guilt-free! And save me a scoop 😉🍦🍩🙌🏼🍕🥨My 3rd video is up and running 😊
