One more bridge/ hip thrusts picture to sum up rib thrust and pelvic tilt positioning to get the most out of this exercise. This is a great place to check your pelvic positioning. At the end of the motion, is your ASIS higher than your pubic bone? 
If your ASIS is higher, take note of whether or not you feel the work being done with your glutes or your back/ quads. If you feel it more in your back and quads, try tucking your bottom a bit and make sure your ribs aren’t sticking up and see if you feel it more in your glutes. 
The other thing that you can try is engaging your hamstrings. If you think about pulling your heels toward your bottom engaging the hamstrings (back of the legs), this can help you hold a posterior pelvic tilt and thus get more glute engagement over quads.

Once you let go of the notion of “bouncing back,” you can bounce forward and discover your true, epic, undeniable strength.  Listen, everything changes when we have a baby, so why do we expect our bodies to be same? Let’s shift the focus to bouncing forward! Here are 4 tips to help you bounce forward.
1️⃣Accept that your body may never look the same, but don’t accept the non-cosmetic “side effects” from child birth that can be improved. 
You may have loose skin, stretch marks, and a softer tummy.  That is all NORMAL.  What isn’t normal is peeing yourself, feeling pain on your pelvic floor, coping with an abdominal separation that causes a pooch and back pain, or painful sex.  Those things can be fixed. See a pelvic floor physical therapist or work with a trainer who specializes in postpartum health.
2️⃣Understand we all have different timelines to healing.
I swear if I see one more #postpartum picture of a woman days out, posing like she is on the cover of Cosmo, I will lose my ever-loving mind.  Those early days are about survival, not abs. Unfollow social media accounts that don’t inspire you.  The key to bouncing forward is understanding that we all heal at different rates.  This is true from woman to woman and even between each of your own pregnancies. 
3️⃣Stop comparing your postpartum journey to someone else’s, and accept that you did the best you could.
Did Susie exercise right up until the day she delivered? Good for her.  Maybe you felt too tired.  That’s okay.  Did Betsy have the easiest childbirth ever thanks to her prenatal yoga classes? Right on, Betsy.  Did Kelly start back at Crossfit right after her 6-week check up? Have at it, Kelly.  Your experience may be different.  Listen to your body. Know that you are working at your own pace, and finding the balance that works for you. 
4️⃣Settle in to the skin you are in (even if there is a little extra)! Know that your body was meant to change, and embrace it. Our bodies were meant to expand and stretch and grow.  Embrace that growth.  You are beautiful.  You are a mother, and what a gift. 💗

I want to give you you something to chew on this morning.... You can’t push body positivity AND sell diets. 
That is an incredibly contradictory statement. 
Maybe you’re thinking, “Well I don’t sell diets!” OR “Get a grip! Some people need to lose weight! And they need help!” Let’s look closely at those two statements. 
1. “I don’t sell diets!” What are diets? Examples, but not limited to: encouraging someone to cut out food groups, macros, weight watchers, challenges where the focus and end result is hopefully weight loss, meal replacements, detoxes, etc. 
2. “Some people need to lose weight!” I will say it until I’m blue in the face. Statistics show us that diets don’t work for 95% of us. Sure, they work immediately, but the long term results SUCK. They are rooted in body shame (your body isn’t good enough the way it is right now). Additionally, research shows us that long term positive healthy behavior change never happens as a result of shame. Seems like common sense but it’s certainly  not common practice. 
So maybe you totally don’t agree with me. That’s fine, you have that absolute right. You do you. 
But maybe you’re thinking, then what should I do? Because let’s face it....Selling diets make money and we’re all trying to make a living. Selling long term behavior change just isn’t sexy or as glamorous (even if it is WAY more promising). Here’s where you’re going to have to get creative, don’t follow the masses and think outside the box. 
OH, and KEEP IT SIMPLE when it comes to nutrition. Why? Because the desire to lose weight usually has nothing to do with not understanding a healthy way of eating. 
Generally when people struggle to adopt healthier behavior change it has nothing to do with willpower or control, but  usually some type unpacked trauma (the way the grew up, eating disorders, years of negative body image, etc) that they haven’t dealt with. For any number of reasons they don’t feel worthy of the self love and acceptance it takes for long term change. And because of that, I can assure you the last thing this person needs is one more diet.

Tell me below!!KB swings are one of the best substitutes for abdominal flexion exercises when pregnant and healing postpartum. When you’re making a substitution, always consider the purpose of the movement (ie. increase metabolic burn, challenge your grip, fatigue your core). KB swings are a great substitute when the wod calls for a higher rep, heart rate boosting exercise. Being pregnant or postpartum doesn’t mean you can’t work hard, we just need to be smart about what exercises we do!
