The 2nd leading cause of death in 15-29 year olds is suicide. I had a 16-year old patient come in this morning with an attempted suicide drug overdose. Thankfully he was found in time, but each year 800,000 people successfully kill themselves. That number is mind blowing to me. Truly, a loss for words. #worldmentalhealthday It’s important to recognize, support, and offer outlets to those suffering from any sort of mental health illness. Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, (among others) and seeking help are NOT signs of weakness—and that stigma needs to end. It’s also significant to remember what you can do for yourself!
