.I love this quote by Mark Twain. Just stop and read it, let it slowly sink in, let it permeate every single cell in your body. Truly stand up and own forgiveness because as we know peri menopause will strip away those layers and you’ll see you see things as they really are. We can’t change your history but we can change where you are now, in this present moment. We all grow up being told there are good and bad people in the world. We’re told don’t be selfish, don’t be angry, don’t be unkind, don’t be lazy, don’t be mean. We internalise the don’t be message and start to question our own qualities. We try to repress the anger, the selfishness, the laziness, the meanness. These traits become our shadow because we are told they are not acceptable in our society, in our culture. We believe they are negative and so they become hidden away in our unconscious. But then we meet others who display these traits and we project our shadow onto them. We feel intolerance towards them. And yet our shadow is there to teach us forgiveness, compassion and love. As Deepak Chopra says, ‘We long to see the seeds of our divinity blossom but we have forgotten that every seed needs fertile ground in which to grow.
