‘An appreciation of analogue’. I spent what felt like too brief a visit in the amazing apartment of the hospitable and kind Simon in The Hague on Saturday. This antique is his. Many important novels, movie scripts and other documents were written on manual typewriters. Typewriters, first mechanical ones such as in the image, and later electronic ones, were an essential part of office life for about 100 years. They were eventually replaced by computers. Now I write these words on a virtual keyboard.
