🏳️🌈Before I begin this post, I need to make it clear that it is not intended to offend, or disrespect the LBGTQ community. Nor will I support anyone who does. You will be deleted if you show any forms or intolerance or disrespect. .
🏳️🌈Many may not know, but some children who survive same trauma question theirs sexuality. Their body responds to the touch in a favorable way (This is a norm. Our bodies takes the score). However, what they don’t understand is what happened to them was by force and not choice. Children and some adults travel through life with tons of questions about their sexuality, and confusion. As a parent, you MUST provide a safe space for your children to ask questions, and be honest about their bodies and sexuality. .
🏳️🌈Sexual trauma isn’t the reason for their choice, but it is the reason some Survivors live with shame, secrecy, and confusion. It’s important to explain to your children that what happened to them was not a choice, but their sexuality is. Never bash them for their feelings, and let them know without a shadow of doubt that rape by the same sex is not the same as choosing to be LGBTQ. .
🏳️🌈The bottom line is this. Providing a safe space, comforting environment, welcoming response, educated feedback, loving arms, and patience is what survivors need. How will you help prevent and end childhood sexual abuse?
