Today morning, my Youtube was flooded by different ex-vegan videos and I feel compelled to share my opinion on the topic. First of all, I truly believe that we all have the right to change the way we eat and live when we feel that it is necessary. We have the right to do what we think it’s best for us and we should never be judged about it. We are all unique and we have different needs at different times.

Having said that, being healthy on a vegan diet is absolutely possible. Eating only green smoothies, plenty of green salads, other vegetables, fruits, crackers, juices, some nuts and seeds is perfect for a short cleanse. However, living on this diet for years will cause many deficiencies in the body. Legumes and grains are truly important and they should not be skipped if you are a vegan. Your body needs sufficient protein in order to make enzymes, hormones, and other chemicals. Protein is also an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. Having a balanced diet that includes a variety of whole foods is truly important in order to be healthy and vibrant.

The human body is like a well-oiled machine and I am constantly impressed by it. However, if we don’t nurture it with the correct nutrients, it won’t be able to work properly. In my opinion, being a vegan comes with a responsibility towards your body. You need to always check whether you get enough food and nutrients. This is extremely important in the first few years before you get used to eating the right amounts of the right foods. I really like to use @Cronometer as it shows the levels of different essential nutrients. In addition, you should check your vitamin B12 levels regularly and take a supplement when necessary. Different supplements such Omega 3 are also quite useful for vegan people.

And lastly, I would like to share that I am not a vegan. I eat plant-based around 90 percent of the time and I love it. Occasionally, I also eat fish and honey. What does this make me? A pescetarian, I think. How do I identify myself? As a healthy eater, who is focused on living a wonderful life.
