Durban West Street
West Street was named after Sir Martin West, Lieutenant Governor of Natal from 1845 to 1849. West Street became the principle thoroughfare to Durban, holding this position until the present time.
West Street masjid was built just 4 years after the Grey Street masjid, which was the first masjid built in Durban in 1880
