An active shooter last weekend underlined the need for training longer distance shots.
A shooter with pistols in both hands climbed the steps of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Morningside Heights and started shooting at a Christmas carrel event.
As the crowd spread and the first police officers responded, the shooter was holed up behind a pillar at the entrance at the church.
In the video and the graphics you can see officers moving around small objects for cover, while engaging the shooter until he goes down.
If you carry a pistol for the sake of protecting others, get yourself a 9-hole wall and move it well away from the targets at the range.
The benefit of that distance shooting training might help protect you or people you protect.
Not every gunfight is at 5 meters.
