The COVID-19 pandemic forced every traveler to look closer at the beauties they have in their surroundings rather than dreaming about some distant destination. That is much easier and rewarding, however, when you happen to be from Italy!
The Tomb of St. Matthew in the Cathedral of Salerno, for example, is one of those hidden gems I would likely never have discovered if it weren’t for @dafnedsc showing it to me. Salerno is the second biggest city in the Region of Campania. Not as famous as Napoli, it is usually a good starting point to explore Amalfi and its famous Costiera - but that doesn’t mean it does not deserve a good visit itself.
Obviously, I used Salerno as a starting point for a different kind of trip. But that is another story.
