As Navan is nestled in at the confluence of two rivers, our riparian (riverside) areas can be considered as the “green lungs of Navan”.

🌿We ventured into the bronchioles and couldn’t believe how green and peaceful it was, right in the middle of Navan! Mature sycamores, oaks, pines, and willows protect their saplings, and the ground is covered in ivy, brambles, and wildflowers.

💧The Boyne often steals all the attention with the beloved Ramparts, riverside paths, and the bridges crossing it..

🌳But we predict that up and coming is the beautiful Blackwater, an equally important wildlife corridor with enormous potential to become as important to us as the Boyne and its Ramparts are.

🌱The planned Riverside Linear Park along the Blackwater riverfront (as an extension of another favourite, Blackwater Park) could protect and improve biodiversity whilst still providing us with lots of open space, improved safety and accessibility with walkways and cycleways.

📑Find these plans (from 2009) and more online at www.meath.ie
under the heading Development Plans. We will update this post as the plans progress.
