Product review: Crocodile tail steak.
(Warning: long post, been a while since my last food blog!šŸ˜‚)

So, itā€™s been a while since my last #foodadventures trying all the weird foods and reporting back to you. A bit hard when thereā€™s no venturing outside allowed!!šŸ˜‚ But, that didnā€™t stop me this time!
Well, didnā€™t I go all fancy in lockdown?? šŸ˜‚

To be honest though, I saw it by chance at Coles Ackland st St Kilda and though why not!! It was first time I have seen it and there was last packet left. Slightly on sale too. Always a bonus!! So letā€™s be adventurous again!! šŸ˜‚

Last time I had crocodile was back in my Qantas day about 15 years ago (God I feel old thinking that!) in Darwin at the Mindle beach Market. I believe there was a stall called ā€œRoad Kill Cafeā€ with their logo being: ā€œyou kill it, we grill itā€, so I believe I would have had a skewer of a croc and emu. I remember it tasting like chicken, but there were quite few drinks consumed there as well, so it could really have tasted like anything!!šŸ˜‚

(BTW, It was only supposed to be served as a snack , hence not much of a presentation.)

After conversation with friend whoā€™s a chef, I have also learned that crocodile meat needs to be cooked quite thoroughly due to risk of bacteria. Apparently prevalent in reptiles šŸ˜•. Hmmm... good chat... definitely cooking it through!!

I decided to cut it in pieces, so it cooks through better and I simply cooked it in 1/1 of plain and garlic and black pepper butter. (Found it at Coles!!! In pics! Tastes amazing!)

VERDICT:
A. Did not get sick! Hell yes!! If any tape worm will eventuate later, hope it would help fat loss!!

B. Package says ā€œtastes like calamariā€. Well it wasnā€™t too far from truth! With it being cooked through flesh was quite firm, so it could call it that. It had sweetness and slight fishiness to it as well. But obviously donā€™t forget garlic butter!

C. So finally.. was I happy I got and tried it? Yes!
Is it worth what it costs? No.

So as a gimmick it was cool to try. And when we are finally allowed out of the state and if we go the North QLD or NT, I am totally eating it when I see it...

(Contā€™d in comments, post too long!!!šŸ˜‚) ooooo, the tension!!!!
