✔️ Most of the tenancy laws in India are in the form of state legislations which protect the basic nature of the relationship between the landlord and the tenant for a residential property.
✔️ The two types of tenancy agreements in India are: Lease Agreements which are covered by rent control laws and; Lease and License Agreement which are not covered by rent control laws
✔️ The amount of rent that can be charged is determined by a formula devised by the local executive, legislative or judicial government, as the case maybe.
✔️ A tenant can be a contractual tenant or a statutory tenant. A contractual tenant is someone who occupies the premises and is entitled to the possession of the premises during the term of the contract. While a statutory tenancy comes into existence where a contractual tenant retains possession after the contract is terminated.
