In the right hands, four strings can accomplish as much musically as six strings. The bass may hold down the bottom and comprise the rhythm component, but when mastered elevates the entire band. Sure we joke about bass players - maybe not these guys - and stand them in the corner while we solo and the singer gets all the airborne panties, but a band without a bass player, a truly great one, is not much of a band. I chose these guys - though there are hundreds more / because without them their iconic bands may not have been so. Musicians yes, artists, vocalists, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists, producers, engineers and arrangers. And Lemmy.
