He is one of our absolute favourite authors, and we love all of his books. He was inspired by the classic English books, like The Wind in the Willows, whoโs novel study I am also in the middle of completing. Donโt get me started on how much I want to write one for this! For now, we are reading this along with the Trumpet of the Swan, in the afternoons and bedtimes. Iโm finding connections to both books actually as this one takes place near Boston, and thatโs also the city the trumpeter swan visits. โฃ

But this book has such a connection with magic, children and gardens that I am simply giddy to turn its pages. All of Eagersโ work centres around some form of magical time travel, from coins, to animals, and now Natterjackโs and herbs in the garden... thyme of course! ๐ฟItโs simply fantastic, and an easier read with my 6 year old (compared to The Wind in the Willows) and I love โค๏ธ how itโs set in the past. โฃ

All of his books are, which I find wonderful. Hearing about a time long ago where children would ride trains without their parents to mysterious houses filled with mystery and magic. Itโs a great book to read while the kids play in the garden and an even better one to pick up while they drift off to sleep. โฃ
