Is there any word more misunderstood than humility?Humility: the quality or state of not thinking you are better than other people. True humility is being “right sized” in relation to others. No better, no worse. It is the practice of thinking less of oneself and more of others but it’s not about putting yourself down or letting people victimize you. It’s a hard thing to get right and, let’s face it, if you think you are humble you probably aren’t! But that’s ok.....Human beings aren’t perfect and the stories we read in the Bible are meant to encourage us and reveal our humanity, not condemn us. One of the best ways to become more humble is to become more thankful. Thankful for food on the table even though it’s Ramen noodles again🍜 , thankful for a job even though your boss is a jerk, thankful for a car even though it’s a beater. I love the story of Ruth. She humbled herself right into an amazing destiny, just by consistently doing the next right thing and being thankful along the way. When we are humbly thankful and appreciative of the little things God delights to give us more. This has been so true in my life! 🙏🏻💫💕
