I never had a weight problem.
I had a self-love problem, a self-respect problem, a self-discipline problem. My weight was a symptom of the overarching lack of care I treated myself with.
Love is a choice. Respect is a choice. Practicing discipline is a choice.
Once I began to let go of all of the things that impede love in my life; negative self talk, worry about how others perceive me, not being honest about the things I wanted and needed, saying “yes” when I really wanted to say “no”, not having clear boundaries, unrealistic expectations, I could go on...
I began to unwrite every past misdeed I allowed to flourish against myself and as I emerged from this place, I was changed. I began to listen to myself, body and soul, and take action because I believe in the power of my value.
If we focus on medicating the symptoms we will never be well. It is time to focus on eradicating the problem.
