In the summer of 2019, I had the enormous privilege of creating and hosting a TV/Streaming series for @pbs’s new station @allartstv - @sanfordbiggers was one of my guests and we spent a good amount of time talking about racial tensions and police brutality. His series “Bam” shows African figurines that he had collected, being dismembered by gunshots, then cast in bronze. I told Sanford, that was the series of his work that had moved me the most. He told me “this isn’t something new, it’s been happening in this country for 400 years”.
