The woodland is full of treasures and trash, the latter often hidden in the crevices of tree roots. I actually found a trash bag with decomposed dog shit hidden in a tree root cave and covered with a rock; it was the strange and purposeful placement of the rock which drew my attention; I thought maybe someone had hid some fun drugs underneath it, but alas, it was only dog shit. I don’t understand... Surely, if you can put in the effort to HIDE your trash, it’d be JUST as easy to carry it out with you??? And surely any adult knows that out of sight is not out of mind, and surely any adult understands that these hidden pieces of plastic trash will cause more harm to the environment than those who float around in the open? When it is hidden, it will not be found and picked up by someone else. It’s like people care more about Pretty Views than they do about Healthy Nature... 😞 I think I’ll go on a “trash hunt” soon, fully equipped with trash bags and gloves, and actually search all of these nooks and crannies for other people’s rubbish, so that I can carry it out. This woodland is, after all, marked as a nature reserve 🍃 As such, I feel a strange sense of responsibility towards it, to keep it free of plastic at least... I mean... I carry out my cigarette butts... They’re plastic, too! (Also found The Perfect hammock camping spot with a fire pit already in place, so I might just look for a way to compensate for the fact that I’ll probably one day do some illegal camping in there... 😳😅 Shhh... It’s our secret... 🤐)
