The shoulder girdle (shoulders and shoulder blades) can be affected by scoliosis. Scoliosis is a twist of the spine. As our rib cage is attached to the spine it can also rotate as a result of the twist in the spine. Our shoulder blades should rest on our ribcage. If the rib cage has moved this can alter how our shoulders and shoulder blades function. While these exercises will help with general strength and mobility they are not scoliosis specific exercises (SSE). SSE’s can only be prescribed on a case by case basis. .

Pause as often as you need to and only complete as many repetitions per exercise as feels good for your body. Only add resistance if your physio/ doctor has given you the go ahead to do so. Do your best to take big inhales and exhales throughout the poses to help improve the mobility through the rib cage and engage the deep core!
