🥞MYTH - YOU MUST EAT BREAKFAST TO KICKSTART YOUR METABOLISM.
TRUTH - Your metabolism doesn’t spike from eating as soon as you wake up, the only way to increase your metabolism is to increase your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Metabolism describes all the chemical processes that go on inside the body to keep you alive and your organs functioning normally, such as breathing, repairing cells and digesting food. These chemical processes require energy. The minimum amount of energy your body requires to carry out these chemical processes is your BMR. Your BMR accounts for anything between 40-70% of your body’s daily energy requirements depending on your age and lifestyle. A ‘slow metabolism’ is more accurately described as a low BMR. The most effective ways to increase your BMR & therefore your metabolism are regular aerobic activity, strength training and N.E.A.T.

🍞MYTH - CARBS ARE BAD FOR YOU. 
TRUTH - Carbohydrates are your bodies preferred source of energy, by supressing hunger, enhancing sleep quality and contributing towards muscle growth, they are actually very important. 
There are a wide variety of carbs including veggies that have a different impact within your body. Although from a calorie deficit point of view, weight loss can be achieved by eating any and all carbs in the right proportions. I’d recommend basing your eating around complex carbs rather than simple processed sugars to improve the nutritional quality of your calorie intake.

🥤MYTH - DIET / SUGAR FREE DRINKS MAKE YOU FAT.
TRUTH - Calories cannot be fabricated out of thin air and so cannot contribute towards your calorie intake. Simple enough?! They don’t cause you to feel hungry or eat more, they don’t cause the production of fat in the body and they don’t elevate health risks such as cancer.

🕰 MYTH - IF I EAT LATE AT NIGHT I’LL GET FAT.
TRUTH - Your body will process a yummy plate of Spag Bol’ exactly the same, whether you eat it at 12pm for lunch or as a late night meal at 10pm. Eating past 7/8pm isn’t going to make you fat. This comes down to your overall calorie intake for the day!
