The undisputed queen of the Caribbean coast, a Unesco World Heritage Site, the old city of Cartagena hides a wealth of colonial architecture, a maze of cobbled alleys and massive churches that cast their shadows across leafy plazas. It is rounded by a 4km wall in order to protect the city from attacks made by enemies of the crown and aggressive pirates.
