🌱 2020 Seed-Starting Party 🌱
Several years ago, I read an article in an issue of @birdsandblooms on how to host your own seed-starting party, & I thought, ‘What a fun idea!’ 😍 So February of 2018, I tried it out & invited some family & friends who also shared a love of plant life or who wanted to learn... & it was a hit! Now, I have a party every year.
Here are my party essentials:
🌸 Biodegradable peat pots with separate plastic cups to set them in for drainage
(Each person got to take home 2-4 pots)
🌱 A bucket of seed-starting soil/potting mix with a small shovel
🌸 An assortment of seeds in packets
(My own seeds as well as pre-bought)
🌱 Popsicle sticks & markers to make plant tags
🌸 Plenty of drinks & snacks, including my “potted plant” desserts as a centerpiece for the food table (also inspiration from Birds and Blooms!)
🌱 As I’ve been learning more & more about how to use YL oils out in the garden, I made a spray for everyone to use on the soil surface once they planted their seeds: 10 drops each of DiGize & Cinnamon Bark (helps with pests, fungus, & neutralize inorganic material) in a 16 oz bottle of water with just a touch of Thieves Cleaner. 👌🏻 Shake & spray!
🌸 And I make sure to showcase two of my favorite garden books this time of year: Starting & Saving Seeds by @juliesgardendelights, (local author & gardener), & Essentially Grown: Natural Gardening With Essential Oils by @growinghealthyhomes. 💛
