So these pictures are 4 years apart. I’m finding it very easy to look at the differences and think “that’s all you did in 4 years?” I’m not an incredibly genetically gifted bodybuilder. It’s taken me a while to find a back training style that I could find consistent progress with. From about age 16-26 all I really focused on was trying to move weight from point a to point b and that got me nowhere. Then I spent age 27-30 getting lost in the minutia of feeling the perfect rep and perfect contraction at the expense of weight. Which was a great blessing by the way. Learning to feel and contract muscles on command exactly how you want is a great tool for a bodybuilder to learn. Controlling every inch of every rep for the sake of mastering your proprioception has helped me immensely. Now I’m at a point where I feel I’ve finally learned to merge the 2 together. Not over analyzing every rep but having just the right amount of control to make sure the targeted muscles are doing the work while focusing on moving as much weight as possible and I think it’s finally paying off.
