Becoming a family of 4 has been wonderful but it’s also been a big adjustment.
Mabel has been so loving and caring with Margot and it’s lovely to see them both so happy. One thing Mabel’s really struggled with is me breast feeding Margot. Iv fed Mabel from day one and we’ve spent 16 months just her and I doing this everyday, through illness, weaning, loss of milk during my pregnancy and then iv tandem fed both of my girls for the last 16 weeks. But last week Nick and I decided it might be time to stop feeding Mabel.
She’s been having a number of tantrums everyday, getting herself really upset and cross whenever I fed Margot (mainly at home) because she wants to be fed too. She will frantically throw down whatever she is doing and run over shouting and climb on top of Margot. I then get mum guilt for not being able to keep Mabel happy and mum guilt for not giving Margot’s enough one to one time.
But since our last feed we have had NO tantrums, no tears and no upset over not feeding at all. Every time she’s seen Margot upset she’s suggested I feed her and when she comes up to see I offer her a cuddle and her dummy and she’s been so calm and she’s also ignored me feeding a few times and happily carried on playing.
We are all learning right?
