Not rap related but this is bigger than basketball and bigger than rap. Two days ago the world lost an icon, a legend, and a leader. Getting into basketball a few years ago, there was one player that was incredibly polarizing. Some hated his playstyle and called him overrated, some adored him and looked at him as the messiah of basketball. He was the hardest working athlete I have ever seen in my life, the most dedicated and passionate player to ever set foot on a court, and the best leader the NBA may have ever seen. Off the court he was just the same. An incredible father to four beautiful girls, a generous man with a huge desire to help those who need it. A cultural icon in basketball, media, and society as a whole. Truly one of the greatest athletes in history. Then you look at Gianna. A 13 year old prodigy with her entire life ahead of her. Destined for greatness the moment she was born. Kobe Bryant, the most prideful and competitive person to ever play basketball was her father. And she was damn good at it. When someone like that says she’s better than him at that age, you have to take notice. “She had a fade-away at 13” is a perfect way of describing how phenomenally talented this girl was. I can’t entirely put into words just how awful this is. A day that will be remembered for decades. I can’t begin to imagine what Vanessa and her daughters are going through. No matter if you’re a fan of basketball or even know anything about Kobe, this hurt you. A lot. Everyone felt this. This will be felt for a long time. Kobe and his daughter will be missed so dearly not just by basketball but by the world. Mamba Forever
