1/3: It’s time to put the roofs on this building. After two years, the time has come to hit pause on The Loneliness Project. . I started this project because I believe that loneliness is a part of being human, and it’s a part that we don’t talk about nearly enough. Stories about what it means to be human are messy, complicated, and don’t fit neatly into an Instagram or Facebook timeline. My hope was that by creating a space for all of us to share these stories, we would be better able to understand those parts of ourselves and of others with compassion and care. . When I started working on this project three years ago, I had no idea what to expect. I genuinely thought I would have to coerce family and friends into sending me stories just to get it up and running. Fortunately, that never happened. To date, the site has received 2000 stories from over 75 different countries, from individuals as young as age 4 and as old as age 85. This community has been featured in news stories by media outlets around the world, such as Buzzfeed, The Guardian, the CBC, and more. It has grown beyond my wildest hopes and dreams. .
