$From hockey injuries to sledding accidents, we saw a lot of tooth injuries over the holidays, and we want to remind everyone what you can do if you’re child experiences a traumatic tooth injury or even loses a tooth! 🤭 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ First, it’s important to consult your dentist ASAP if your child experiences any trauma or impact injury to their mouth which causes bleeding, lacerations to the gums, or dislodges, or creates fractures in teeth. Contacting your dentist within one hour of injury increase the likelihood of being able to save the tooth.❤️🦷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If your child is in pain from a broken, cracked or chipped tooth, they may take an over-the-counter pain reliever and if possible, you should keep any part of the tooth that has broken off and take this with you to the dentist. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If a permanent tooth is knocked out, it’s important to see your dentist immediately, and you should NOT clean the tooth with anything. This ensures that your child’s natural microbes are maintained on the tooth and you should then put the tooth directly back in place in the mouth, the tissues natural suction should hold it.
