Here we go! Secret number one: you’re buying too much!

How many palettes do you have that are only half used after 3 years? And old foundations and concealers that you bought without color matching first? How about the mascara stash with 4 dried out tubes you never used? It’s time to be honest with yourself and quit spending money on more products than you can reasonably use before they are technically unsanitary to keep using. Instead, take the time to test things before you buy, spend reasonably on a few palettes and products that meet all of your needs, and then stop! You can mix and combine a fairly small amount of products for tons of different looks.
Of course, if you’re in the mood for something special, like neon or serious glitter, go for it - but only if you really think you’ll use it more than once. If you’re on the fence about if the euphoria look is really for you, maybe skip that neon liquid liner impulse purchase. Save that cash for something you might actually need like subway fare or gas.

The most important part of this secret, is that it’s no secret at all. Makeup counter staff work on commission in most circumstances. That means their job depends on selling products whether you can truly afford them or not, and impulse buys on small items between $20-$30 are the source of many sales because they don’t seem like exorbitant purchases. $30 might not seem like much, but when you keep spending $30 on every sparkly new eyeshadow palette you see, that really adds up. Before you know it, that $30 turns into $300 real quick, and for me, that’s the same amount I spend on most of my bills each month. Ouch!

So, keep it simple, and sensible, and keep that money so you can look amazing and take a trip somewhere while you’re doing it. 😉🏖💵 #moneyormakeup #yourebuyingtoomuch #yourbankaccountisbeautiful #nyxcosmetics #elfcosmetics #revolutionmakeup #revlon #hourglasscosmetics #profusioncosmetics #loreal
