Camden (my younger son, 2nd pic) asked last night if he could run with me today. I said yes but we had to go early. He said ok to waking up at 6:30am. My older son, Owen, went back and forth on whether or not he wanted to go. I said if I gave up running with my friends to run with them, they couldn’t bail on me. 😉 Mia said she’d run a mile. I wasn’t sure she would, but said ok.
Cam got up at 6:30 and despite wanting to say no, I reminded him he couldn’t bail on me, and he did great! He wanted 2 miles and I started him on our 5k loop and tricked him into the whole thing. 😂 He finished in 41:10.
Mia was next and came out and ran her mile loop with me in 14:55. I had to remember her little walk stride is slow, but she did great and didn’t complain at all.
Owen was still not wanting to run, but hubs said he had to go since they don’t have soccer games today. He took his sweet time getting shoes on and griping about everything. As we started out, I practically had to DRAG him. What the heck? Is this preteen attitude? 🤦🏻‍♀️ He said he wasn’t awake. He was literally running with his arms straight down at his sides. Oh my gosh, he was so weird and complaining... Once we hit a half mile I told him he was actually running better than his siblings. He got out of his funk pretty quickly after that and finished his 5k loop in 37:12.
I debated stopping at 7 miles, based on my knee, but decided one more slow mile would be ok. My original goal was 10 for today, but 8.2 will have to do!
What a beautiful morning for running! How blessed am I that I have these three amazing babies to exercise with me and enjoy God’s creation together? I’m not sure who all is running in our church’s 5K next weekend, but we’re ready! 😉
