“Large parts of the relief figures are missing. A nude youth leans against a pillar with his legs crossed. He holds a lagobolon (a stick to throw at hares) in his left hand, indicating that he was a hunter, as, too, does the dog sniffing the ground behind him. At the right side of the relief, the dead youth’s aged father gazes at him, stricken with grief, leaning on his staff. Small holes at the side of and above the hair of the figures will have been used to attach metal wreaths. The representation is completed by the dead man’s young servant who is half-asleep on the steps, exhausted by the painful loss. This monument has been attributed to the Parian sculptor Skopas, or to a sculptor from his school.”

«Eπιτύμβια στήλη. Bρέθηκε στην Aθήνα, στην κοίτη του Iλισού. Γυμνός νέος στηρίζεται σε πεσσό, σταυρώνοντας τα πόδια. Στο αριστερό του χέρι κρατεί λαγωβόλο που τον χαρακτηρίζει ως κυνηγό, όπως και ο σκύλος, που ιχνηλατεί πίσω του. Στη δεξιά πλευρά του αναγλύφου ο πρεσβύτης πατέρας του νεκρού προσβλέπει σε αυτόν με συντριβή στηριζόμενος σε βακτηρία. Μικρές οπές στα μαλλιά των δύο μορφών χρησίμευαν για τη στερέωση μετάλλινων στεφανιών. Tην παράσταση συμπληρώνει ο μικρός υπηρέτης, που εξουθενωμένος από την οδυνηρή απώλεια μισοκοιμάται στα σκαλοπάτια. Το μνημείο έχει αποδοθεί στον Πάριο γλύπτη Σκόπα ή σε κάποιο γλύπτη του κύκλου του.» Περίπου 340 π.Χ.
