The museum was pleased to play a small role in the story of Stephanie Trdenic and her father TSgt Joseph Trdenic below: "A dream come true: On Sept 17, 1944, 11-year-old Thérèse Grenier handed my father, T/Sgt Joseph Trdenic, of the 36th Infantry, a bottle of wine in the just-liberated town of Luxeuil. 75 years later, I was overjoyed to stand in my father’s footsteps and exchange a bottle of wine with Dominique Frery, the daughter of Thérèse. It was such an honor to be able to pay tribute to my dad — and to spend several days traveling the same roads taken by the men of the 36th Infantry. Thank you to Simon Deleyrolle for making this moment happen — finding the house, finding Dominique, and making all the connections... Thank you to Lisa Sharik — who discovered me via Michael Basilone Remy’s 36th Infantry FB page — and the Texas Military Forces Museum for finding the name of my family’s long-lost and so-called “Little Red Riding Hood”... And finally, thanks to the entire Deleyrolle family — current and soon-to-be 😊 — for welcoming my family into their homes and hearts!" #ww2 #wwii #france #texas #36thinfantrydivision #wine #reunion
