Yesterday was an amazing day in Yellow Springs! We were seen. Our voices were heard. I stood with at least 30 activists to bring awareness to the plight of the Antioch College lambs. They have been living in seclusion in the college solar field and used as living lawnmowers all summer. Once their job is done, the college plans to slaughter them and feed them to students as a way of teaching them “sustainable agriculture.” There are animal sanctuaries who have already reached out and offered to take the lambs but the college is refusing. There is a petition and people have called and written letters. I can only hope that our efforts made a difference for them as their slaughter date approaches. They are just babies who deserve to live out the rest of their full lives in a safe and loving environment.
