Coconut Crab a.k.a Robber Crab -the largest land living crab in the world on Chumbe Island.
The common name derives from the crabs ability to climb coconut trees where it easily cracks coconuts with its powerful claws.

As they are easy prey, they are becoming extinct in areas close to human settlements. Protected on Chumbe, the island hosts more than 300 Coconut Crabs which have become a study base for international researchers and students. #repost #paradise #zanzibarisland 🌴
