Our thought patterns are largely based on our core beliefs about ourselves, the world, and others. These core beliefs begin to formulate in your childhood and continue to develop throughout your life; especially when faced with traumatic or stressful events.
What we experience as children shapes our core beliefs. for instance if you were abused as a child you might grow up with the core belief that you are not worthy or unlovable. This belief can continue to play out in your life in areas like work, school or even relationships. For example you might go through a breakup and feel that it is because you are not worthy or not good enough for that person when in fact that is not the case.
By becoming aware of our thought pattern you can gain insight into your beliefs and how you perceive situations.
