A custom Intergalactic table getting the belt sander treatment to reveal the brass starmap hiding below the epoxy mess ✨ my circle cutting technique is designed around taking the load off my router and bits. STEP 1 - route a 6mm deep channel using a compass / template / Shaper CNC. STEP 2 - jigsaw off the excess keeping on the outside edge of the groove. STEP 3 - use a spiral upcut flush trim bit (note the direction I move the router, backcutting to avoid tearout against the grain). STEP 4 - tidy up the edges lightly with a belt sander. I know everyone has their own technique they swear by but this is my favourite (easy, repeatable, minimal burning/tearout). Using a compass jig to go the whole way through the circle doesn’t give you the control in backcutting against the grain in my experience. Let me know your preferred circle cutting method? I am alone in my approach? @nikkilist - getting closer to completion 👍🏻
