✨TEN WHOLE YEARS✨
It’s been exactly ten whole years, right down to the day, since I first arrived at Columbia in New York City from San Diego. Within my first month of living in Manhattan, a crotchety old man told me that only after you’ve completed 10 years in the city (consecutively) are you a TRUE New Yorker. Well, guess what, old man?! I’ve made it! And now, I’m sitting right atop Alma Mater... cue security. These are my tip top memories of my time here...
... 1. Camping out on the sidewalks of midtown overnight for tickets to SNL (2008)
2. Becoming the Culinary Society president and hosting the Dinner of the Gods and Goddesses, a 12-course feast (2010)
3. Interning in the Good Housekeeping Magazine test kitchens (2011)
4. Graduation week, which coincided with my first printed byline in New York Magazine (2012)
5. Le Diner dans Le Subway, a progressive meal down the 1 line (2013)
6. My scavenger hunt birthday, in which 20 of my friends were subjected to a multi-hour, Matt-crafted hunt across Manhattan to find... me (2014)
7. Getting the most awesome roommate/dad a guy could ask for (2015)
8. My first-ever dinner service with Outstanding in the Field (2016)
9. Meeting the most wonderful, talented, hardworking, passionate man... this is our first of many pictures, taken on our second date (2017)
Thank you to everyone who has made the city what it is to me—I’ve always said, What more is a city than the people who occupy it? Here’s to 10 more!
