In order to ensure the enforcement of criminal sanction in the form of forced labor, a separate area has been created in the territory of the Komi Republic, functioning as a correctional center. Forced labor is used as an alternative to imprisonment for crimes of minor or medium gravity or for the commission of a serious crime for the first time. Convicts are involved in forced labor in accordance with the labor legislation of the Russian Federation, with the exception of the recruitment rules, dismissal from work, job transfer, refusal to perform work, and leave provision.
