Rattles are probably the first toys that babies play with as they are more than a source of entertainment for the baby. Similarly, choosing the wrong one can be non-beneficial to the baby as well.

Some rattles can be too loud for babies and thus pose a hearing hazard for them. This is more so when babies tend to hold the rattle close to their ears. As a rule of thumb, choose toys at no more than 90 decibels when held approximately 25cm from the child’s ear.
