A communal feast

This happened last week. It was late in the evening and as we were watching birds from the road, we noticed an Indian Spotted Eagle descend from the sky and land at the edge of a freshly ploughed field. Expecting to observe it feed on a large prey, we moved closer and were surprised to see no dead bird or animal. Instead the eagle was picking out winged termites that were emerging from the ground.
Even as we watched, the eagle was joined by a noisy flock of seven Common Mynas and a pair of Black Drongos. Awaiting them to harass the predator, we were pleasantly surprised to see no sign of aggression or fear from either members. Instead they too joined in the feast as there was plenty for everyone! The party went on for over 10 minutes after which the eagle took off.
