Occasionally I get asked why I chose to become an advocate. The short answer? Out of necessity.
•••
The long answer? I was feeling suffocated by the limitations of my body. I was tired of being sick and silent. I needed to scream. I needed to start talking about how hard my day-to-day life was. I was feeling disconnected from who I was becoming at the expense of my illnesses. I craved connection and honesty and authentic conversation.
•••
So here I am. Advocating for myself, advocating about my conditions, and advocating for the people who feel similarly buried by their circumstances but don’t have a voice. The heart of advocacy is humanness. It is flawed. It is hard to hear sometimes. But I feel like I can finally breathe now. Because I am showing who I am and what I go through. I am no longer invisible.

If you like my words, I hope you’ll consider endorsing me for the WEGOHealth awards. There are 8 days left to do so. I’m ready to get to work. Link is in my bio. 💪🏻
