The voyage to the moon began today 50 years ago. Blasting off from Pad 39-A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida to begin its historic quarter-million-mile journey to the moon, two Scouts (Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin) set foot on the lunar surface four days later.
