Here’s the thing, we all get so caught up in what’s next or what we missed or what already happened that we can’t change, that we forget to be in the moment.
.
Being in the moment takes such a huge amount of awareness and mindfulness and practice that many of us give up or don’t even attempt to appreciate the now. (Me, not too long ago, saying “I hate yoga, it’s too slow.” No. It’s not slow, it’s deliberate.)
.
One place that I’ve gotten really good at shutting out the white noise is while I’m moving - I can focus just on me, right now, doing whatever it is I’m doing.
.
But stillness is an entirely different challenge that I have yet to master. That doesn’t mean I’m going to quit, it means I’m going to be patient with myself, give myself time and space to be, and celebrate the small quantities of time when my mind isn’t a whirlwind, where my thoughts are still, and where it’s just me. Here. Now.
