The beautiful, government-subsidized, free Shanghai Museum has an amazing collection of over a million pieces of ancient Chinese art, pottery and findings (covering 21 categories). Nearly 130,000 pieces are national treasures.
The museum’s got air conditioning and a lovely tea room on the second floor too.
