The day ended with two decisive games. Someone took down Goryachkina and that’s Mariya ! She played a great game with some good preparation and kept on pressuring her in a Caro-Kann defense. She won it pretty convincingly.
The game between Tan Zhongyi vs Valentina Gunina was a long one where Tan could have won much earlier. She should have taken a free rook and calculated a bit. But she picked a very safe choice which is understandable due to the tiredness of the players after 14 rounds !
It was a long and exciting event where Goryachkina simply dominated the field with a score of 9.5/14 and with 1.5 point lead over her closest rival Anna Muzychuk who finished second. Katernya Lagno and Tan Zhongyi share third place.
Meaning the next World Championship match will be played with Aleksandra Goryachkina from Russia vs Ju Wenjun from China ! Who will win ?
