Meet Oscar! Oscar was abandoned in the bus station area, and was seen roaming around for many weeks with a thick chain around his neck. As Oscar got better at scavenging for food, the chain started to become embedded in his neck. We were determined to help Oscar – but there was just one problem: he wouldn’t let us touch him. After weeks of trying to win him over with food, we knew we couldn’t wait any longer. ⠀

One volunteer ran to the hardware store to purchase the heaviest set of wire cutters we could find, while others were able to grab hold of the end of the chain. Unfortunately, the cutters didn’t even make a mark. We ended up coaxing Oscar into a transport cage and taking him to the vet where he was vaccinated, neutered, and had that chain removed while he was under anesthesia. ⠀

We’d love to say that we’ve since won Oscar over, but unfortunately, he’s still wary of us (understandable!). We still see him around frequently, and will continue to check up on him. #PasayPups⠀
