Anyway, I have an update.
I was incredibly excited to be told I was all clear to go on orkambi. Basically a life saving drug for Cystic Fibrosis people.
But of course there’s side affects (also VERY expensive).
After an incredibly long thought and a incredibly hard decision.
I’ve decided not to go on it.
It’s good for those who are more ill than me and have nothing to lose, it can actually be the life saving drug.
But for CF’s like me who are pretty stable it can have an opposite affect from what I’ve heard and seen.
Originally I was thinking “stuff it! I’ll just trial it”
But its a medication that straight up attacks your gene...it’s actually a pretty intense treatment and could cause my health to decline so while I’m steady I’m not going to go on it.
It’s a hard decision but I’m not willing to risk anything while I’m in an okay spot.
