Police Trade-In Smith and Wesson Model 13 in .357 Magnum
An iconic and widely used six shot, double action revolver based on the earlier Model 10 yet made to fire the longer .357 Magnum over .38 Special. Using the same frame, sights and grip as the earlier Model 10, it made it easier for officers to transition to the Model 13.
The Model 13 were available with a 3” or a 4” barrel with fixed sights, these were popular lengths with law enforcement with it being easier to draw than a 6” yet have better accuracy then a snub nosed 2”, the fixed sights are also rugged and simple making them a great choice for a duty gun.
Both round-butt and square-butt versions were produced. The Model 19 is essentially the same gun with adjustable sights and a partial underlug, which was also very popular amongst law enforcement and civilian shooters. The Model 13 has a blued finish; the Model 65 is a variant in matte finish stainless steel.
The Model 13 was manufactured from 1974 to 1998 and the Model 65 was manufactured from 1972 to 2004. The Model 13 should not be confused with the M13, which was a lightweight alloy revolver produced from 1954-56 for the U.S. Air Force, known as the Aircrewman.
The Model 13 was requested by the New York State Police in order to have a .357 Magnum revolver to replace their .38 Special Model 10. The Model 65 in stainless steel came about at the request of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The FBI issued the Model 13 with round butt and 3
